On Friday 15th August four teams turned up at Elland CC. Lancashire U11, Durham U13 & Cumbria U13. The two under 13 sides both play in the ECB Development Leagues, I even thought one of them was the coach for the day.....

We played Durham first, winning the toss and batting first we posted 106 from our 20 overs with Phoebe Turner getting her first Yorkshire 50 and Captain Fran Goldthorpe scoring 14, & Frances Lonsdale playing 4 times out of her age group opening the batting scoring 8 before she retired hurt. The Yorkshire Girls took the field and bowled Durham out for 46 !!!! Fenella Hibbert & Jemima Wood taking 3 wickets each, Harriet Grace 2 and Gabriella Copley 1. A fantastic result.

I thought the day couldn't get better but it did when we beat Cumbria U13. They batted first and scored 67-7, Fenella picking up another 3 wickets and Jess Kelly 2 wickets. The Yorkshire Girls battled through and after 17.2 overs knocked off the Cumbria score Georgia Draper 15, Fenella Hibbert 16 and Gabriella Copley 13.

In my opinion the day of the season for the Yorkshire U11 Girls playing against girls who were towering above them and bowling fairly quick. We stayed positive and stayed on task and showed the older age group how we play cricket in Yorkshire.
